Work, everyday stress and children’s yells behind you and enjoy a relaxed weekend for two? has tested Ibiza for you and found it perfect! (Update to places to see at the bottom)

Ibiza? Party Island? That’s what we thought at first. We don’t feel like partying with the kids dancing through the night and then lying on the beach like dead flies during the day! But it turns out that Ibiza was the perfect destination for our parental break: beautiful scenery, good food, nice people.

On arrival it becomes clear what the Boutique Hotel and its ZEN in the name are all about: The garden is an oasis of peace and relaxation, there are no normal deckchairs around the pool. Rather, we found there regular beds, which invite with the colorful cushions to be the whole day on it and “zen”. Also the rooms are furnished in a way that one immediately feels comfortable, with natural materials and original details. Bar and breakfast are outside, the à la carte breakfast offers local products and excellent bread.

But not only the furnishings – which consist mainly of upcycelten materials – stand for recreation. Also the atmosphere in general: At the bar there is a list on which you can simply enter your name when you take something. Circle of trust. And if you trust me, I trust you too. Good thing.

The guests also owe the atmosphere to the charming owners, who have fulfilled a long-cherished dream with Ibizazen: To welcome people in a place where they would like to go on holiday themselves. Far away from the numerous hotel bunkers on the beach and yet only 5 minutes’ walk away.

The hotel offers “only” 34 rooms, which also fits the relaxed athmosphere. Since there is no room for your own SPA, you can simply take the SPA into the garden of Ibizazen. A relaxing massage under the ancient olive tree with the sea breeze stroking your back…. A MUST!

But of course we didn’t spend the whole weekend in the hotel (although I could have done that). Ibiza offers its guests a lot: small, fine bays (if you know where), sensational restaurants, markets and of course parties. Here are our tips for the perfect weekend for two:

The Cala d’en Serra, east of Portinatx. A mini beach in a turquoise bay with a teeny coffee serving fine salads, bocadillos (Spanish sandwiches) and of course tapas. The journey is adventurous, but worth it! Many Spaniards spend their Saturday afternoon here.

Explore the island by rental car. As there are hardly any motorway sections worth mentioning on Ibiza, most of the trips take place overland and this is worth seeing in itself.

The sunset at the Mint Lounge in Sant ANtoni de Portmany. Even though the cafés have lost their flair since Hinz and Kunz have the Café del Mar albums on their iPod, the view is still quite spectacular. And the drinks are good.

Lunch at “La Escollera” and Playa Es Cavallet. Rather expensive for Ibiza, but the location, the paella and the tapas compensate for the small hole in the holiday budget. With your feet in the sand and your nose in the wind you can stop the Zwit here.

The hippie market “Las Dalias” in Sant Carles. hippie is the smell of incense sticks and the homemade products (at least most of them). Less hippie are the prices, but after all manual work has to be paid. Every Saturday and Monday evening.
Small but nice is the handicraft market in Sant Joan de Labritja. The guitarist, who played songs from my youth, certainly helped me to stay a little longer. Every Sunday.

The “Ses Boques” at the Cala d’Hort, which you would certainly never find if you hadn’t given us the tip in Ibizazen. A small, deserted beach (where you can rent some deckchairs) and a wooden cottage that serves as a restaurant. Wonderful sangria, finest fish dishes and a unique ambience with a view to the dragon islands Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell.

Hostal La Torre, Cap Negret
The restaurant of this hostal is situated a little higher on the cliffs and offers a really breathtaking view of the sea and especially the sunset. Good Mediterranean cuisine.
The centre of San Antoni is only 3 km away, ideal for a drink afterwards 😉

Bambuddha Ibiza
A trendy restaurant with a great Asian atmosphere about 10 minutes from Santa Eulalia. The “sharing” concept is that one does not have the classic starter, main course, dessert schedule, but the various dishes are ordered and then simply brought what is ready and everything is shared. So the typical tapas style but with “MediterrAsian” dishes – which is not everyone’s cup of tea, as you can read on Tripadvisor 😉 The beef salad as well as the tuna tatar was simply a poem, but everything else was also very tasty.

Excursion to Formentera
By boat 30 min from Ibiza city or slightly more than 1 hour from Santa Eulalia. The best way is to rent a scooter and discover the island and enjoy the fantastic views or marvel at the impressive yachts.

All in all, Ibiza was a real discovery for us and so without any children we had one thing above all: a rest.
