Who is spontaneous and wants to experience something, should try the Tirol! At least our Sandra Schmid, who drove to the Adventure Park in the autumn, thinks so.
My sister and I wanted to go away for a few days during the autumn holidays. But where to go with 3 kids aged 14, 12 and 4. For a trip to the sea we had too little time and also not the appropriate budget. So we decided to stay for a few days in Tyrol and in our aunt’s apartment.
Excursion to Adventure Park in Serfaus
There was no shortage of ideas for excursions, but again the question arose: what to do with 3 children of different ages.
After careful consideration and tips, we decided to visit the Adventure Park, which opened in summer 2019. There everything revolves around alpine pasture and forestry and numerous play stations inspire around the Hög lake.
Even the journey to Serfaus is exciting and offers wonderful views of the surrounding Tyrolean mountains. The road winds its way through many curves until we reach the car park outside Serfaus. Important: Serfaus is car-free! We parked at the edge of the village and continued by subway (both free of charge).
We have not regretted our decision to visit the Hög Adventure Park! The park really offered something for all our children. The woodcutter’s playground found of course above all with my 4-year-old full Zuspruch. There we rode on a ibex, tipped together, rocked and dug in the sand. While the little ones are playing, the parents can relax on deck chairs around the playground without losing sight of the kids.
The skill course “old stable” was a challenge for everyone, especially for us adults. The kids did the course with a lot of dexterity, we “older” semester had our problems with balance. It was fun for everyone and we laughed a lot. Those who still weren’t tired could continue to let off steam on the cow trampoline.
But the absolute hammer was the family coaster “Schneisenfeger”, the tobogganing fun for the whole family. Already on the way up we experienced exciting details about the timber industry. But I was happy about my gloves and hat, because at 4 degrees outside temperature on a toboggan it can get rather cool. Arrived above it goes over a staged distance of 1.5 km with up to 40 km/h again down. On the way we encountered numerous exciting jumps, 2 spectacular roundabouts, numerous hairpin bends – and the whole thing up to 8 meters above the ground. Nothing for weak nerves.
Driving is in 2 sledges, alone or in pairs. Kids are allowed from the age of 3 and from the age of 10 they can toboggan alone.
Between the trips we have strengthened ourselves with Tyrolean cuisine. We were so enthusiastic that we decided to come again next summer. The Hög Adventure Park also offers a variety of summer activities. In the bathing lake there is a pedalo, rowing boat and raft rental and in the shallow water also the small children can splash around to their heart’s content.
Tiredly we started the short return journey to my aunt.
After breakfast it was time to say goodbye again. Since we had top weather, we decided to travel over the Flüela Pass. The mountain panorama with sunshine did not disappoint us and made the return journey easier. In Landquart we decided to make a short stop at the Designer Outlet. The two teenagers could go shopping and my little one enjoyed the playground in the outlet.
Serfaus is always worth a visit. Hikers will be enthusiastic about the beautiful mountain world, but also for a short stay the Tirol offers itself again and again.
More information about the activities in Serfaus can be found under:
The first address in Serfaus is certainly the “Lion and Bear”. The somewhat different accommodation, however, offers the “Darrehof” holiday and riding estate. If you prefer the valley, I can recommend the family hotel Mozart in Ried. The region Ried – Prutz – Pfunds also offers a variety of family activities.
